Aboki Estate: A Visit To The Slum In Lekki Lagos State,Nigeria

Aboki estate is located around lekki area of lagos state and it is very close to Elegushi beach.
The slum houses about over one thousand people living under a woody caved five/five(5/5) fit square room with know visible toilet and the environment is totally unhealthy.

   "A young  lady who is on her late thirties."Miss Anita said she has been in Aboke estate for more than nine years.
In her words,'She came to lagos in 2011 from benue state to seek for greener pasture and dou to the high  cost of house rent in lagos and as well as runing into the hands of fraudsters who would  claime to be house agent but illegally swindled her financially,She decided against renting a legal apartment.
According to her,"She said the scammers pretend to be geniue and when she entrusted them with her money,they fled.' Not long before she discovered aboki estate through a work colleague.



currently miss Anita is self-employed.As a food vendor and she is seeking to stay in aboki estate for as long as possible." She said the business is paying off and the level of security here is okay because there are people who see that the wellbeing of everyone is guaranteed. 

Mr Dura who is also a resident of Aboki estate testified that the estate have provided a means of accommodation to more than a thausand of low income earners.




According to him,He came to notice about Aboki estate in the year 2014 when he came to Island for a contract job of painting and that was when he discovered a place like this and he didn't hesitate to relocate to the island.The father of two said the that despite the fact that cost of living is low on the  mainland but Working on the Island pay better."He also expressed his happiness living in Aboki estate.

I like here despite the confusion that is caused by some area boys who is always ready to fight at any extent though He said that another bearer now is that there have been rumours that the state government is planing to demolishing the place though to inflow of hoodlums into the area.



Aboki estate is one of many places of many locations one can find different kinds of low life and illicit activities like drug trafficking,high rate of prostitution which is almost rampant around the  estate and you can also find beer parlours even view centers and beting centers but be fully acquainted  to the fact that the place is totally unhygienic but there is enough cruise so be sure to carry your s*xual protection just in case perhaps depending on what you are looking for,teenage girls are easily found engaging in prostitution for a very low price.
